Most of the items in this collection were signed by Rabbi Abraham Isaac ha-Kohen Kook. They include a facsimile of his letter of acceptance of the position of Chief Rabbi, his stance on Keneset Yiśraʼel and the issue of rabbinical scholars and defense, requests for support of various charitable causes, including Yeshivat Merkaz ha-Rav (Universal Yeshiva), and calls for prayer for the recovery of the Hafets Hayim. There are death and memorial notices for Rav Kook put out by Yeshivat Merkaz ha-Rav. The collection also includes various announcements and pronouncements of the Chief rabbinate on religious and political issues, as well as a program for the dedication of Bet ha-Rav.

Abraham Isaac ha-Kohen Kook was born in Latvia in 1864. In 1904 he moved to Palestine and served as rabbi of the Jewish community in Jaffa. In 1919 he became rabbi of the Ashkenazi community of Jerusalem. In 1921, when the Chief rabbinate was established, he was appointed Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Palestine, a position he held until his death in 1935.
